Lady Aurelia Owner Confirms Interest

George Bolton, one of the owners of Lady Aurelia, who blitzed her rivals in the King’s Stand Stakes overnight on day one of Royal Ascot has confirmed that The Everest is certainly in the minds of the connections.

“Right now the end goal is to have her in my backyard for the Breeders Cup… but I think what we’re going to do is sit down and look at all the options. There is also a very big race in Australia (The Everest) – $10 million, six furlongs, three weeks before the Breeders Cup and $10 million is $10 million so that will get a look in as well,” Bolton told TVG.

“It almost brings tears to my eyes that she is that good. We gave her the right audience so be in front of. She deserved this shot.”

The Wesley Ward-trained filly was breathtaking in beating the older horses, missing the course record, set by Miss Andretti in 2007, by just one hundredth of a second. The daughter of Scat Daddy of course also demolished her rivals in last year’s Queen Mary Stakes.

“She is a very special filly. This is a Group One against the fastest sprinters in the world and to duplicate what she did last year and come back and do it again – she is a once in a lifetime horse,” Ward told ITV Racing.

“I’d like to for the Nunthorpe Stakes next but I’ll sit down with the owners and discuss it.

“I’ll just get her home and then we’ll see. I would say she’ll be back here next year too. The owners are sportsmen and sportswomen and as long as she’s happy and healthy and sound I’d say she’ll continue on.”
