A lightly raced daughter of Golden Slipper winner Pierro, Tulip was one of the leading fillies of her two-year-old year finishing third in the Slipper after a torrid run. She also ran fourth in the Blue Diamond and then came to Sydney easily downing smart filly Alizee in the Magic Night Stakes.

She’s been sparingly raced this spring with just the two starts. She resumed with an unlucky second at Moonee Valley before a close fourth in the Tea Rose Stakes when up to 1400m.

While Tulip may not have been Coolmore’s first choice to take their slot in The Everest she is a talented filly and it’s fair to say the best may not have been seen of her yet.

Co-trainer David Hayes is adamant Tulip has what it takes to be competitive in The Everest – and he should know as he trains two of the leading chances in Redkirk Warrior and Vega Magic.

“She is a brilliantly talented filly and more than capable of mixing it with my Group 1 sprinters so she deserves her place,’’ David Hayes said.
