Bigger, Bolder and More Electrifying Than Ever
The race-day thrills begin long before the gates open at the sold-out Royal Randwick, it all starts with the TAB Everest Calcutta, the pulse-raising prelude to the world’s richest race on turf.

Returning in 2025 with heightened anticipation and a touch of glamour, this year’s edition promises even more excitement, energy, and the chance for fans to own a share in the world’s most exhilarating sprint race.

A Premium Prelude to Racing’s Richest Sprint
On Friday 17 October 2025, at the Sydney Business TAB Everest Luncheon, twelve lucky Calcutta ticket holders will be drawn live to claim their place in racing folklore. Each winning ticket represents a coveted opportunity - a stake in a future Everest runner and a chance to share in the action of a lifetime.

Just as the TAB Eureka Calcutta captured national attention with its thrilling digital draw and feverish bidding, the Everest version brings that same energy to the turf, transforming the luncheon into a theatre of excitement and suspense.
HOW IT WORKS
-
Entry Price & Eligibility
For just $10 per entry, fans aged 18 and over across NSW can purchase tickets for the chance to become one of twelve Calcutta drawers. -
The Draw
At 2:00 pm, twelve winning tickets will be drawn via random number generator. Each number corresponds to a saddlecloth number, linking the lucky entrant to an Everest contender. -
The Auction
From 3:00 pm, the atmosphere ignites with a spirited live bidding auction, where drama meets strategy:-
Original ticket holders may bid to retain their assigned horse paying only 50 % of the winning bid if successful.
-
External bidders must pay the full bid, with 50 % of that amount added to the Calcutta prize pool and 50 % returned to the original ticket holder.
-
Should a runner attract no bids, the original ticket holder retains the entry and receives the full prize payout as if they had purchased it outright.
-
-
Prize Pool Distribution
The final prize pool combines 100 % of ticket sales with 50 % of auction revenue, distributed as follows:-
1st Place = 70 %
-
2nd Place = 20 %
-
3rd Place = 10 %
-
This innovative and proven format ensures that every ticket counts, making the Calcutta a competition within the competition.
